Obituary for Francis Felice Beverina

Francis Felice Beverina
Frank Beverina, 81, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, registered professional engineer, mentor, amateur artist, and avid golfer died on November, 4, 2017 at his home in Lake of the Woods, VA.
Frank was a native Vermonter and a graduate of Montpelier High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1959 and pursued graduate work in Structural Mechanics at George Washington University. He was an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the National Society of Professional Engineers.
He was a Division and Program Manager at Naval Sea Systems Command in Northern Virginia, retiring in 1987 after 28 years of service. He received the Navy Department Superior Civilian Award, the highest civilian award in the Navy, in recognition of his work with the Marine Corps Amphibious Assault Vehicle Program. He then took a position as Vice President and General Manager of a research and development firm for 10 years before his retirement and move to Lake of the Woods, VA.
For over 50 years, Frank was active in the community. While raising his family in Springfield, VA, he coached soccer for twenty years, and served on church and community boards. In retirement he served on numerous county boards, and was an active member of the Lake of the Woods community, including serving a term as its president.
Frank was an avid golfer and amateur artist of hundreds of works of art, many of which he donated to charitable causes. Above all, he was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth of Lake of the Woods, a son Anthony, his wife Cecilia and grandchildren Chloe and Jordan of Falls Church: and a son Andrew, his wife Kathy and grandchildren William and Alexandra of Stafford. His son Vincent died in 2009.
A celebration of life will be held on November, 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm at Lake of the Woods Church. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Lake of the Woods Fire & Rescue Company, 104 Lakeview Parkway, Locust Grove, VA 22508.
